Okay-- great! I appreciate your interest
in the Wardogs past and present and think you have a great website. I
have been on island since 1999 and I can tell you the Wardogs have had
great reputation over this span. We've had some great soldiers, NCOs and
officers recently come through this battery and I consider
myself extremely lucky to be known as Wardog 6.
I have attached a copy of the summary I
was asked to write as part of the
Knox Award nomination packet. The Knox
Award is an annual award to recognize the best field artillery battery in
the United States Army. This year, A/3-7 FA was chosen to be the 25th
Infantry Division Artillery's nominee. The summary covers what we have
accomplished over the past year and would be a good starting point.
The "Fire Mission" picture was taken last
December at firing point 212 (across from Area X-ray). Seen is 4th
section, headed by SSG Juan Phillips.
In Jan 02, we reentered Makua Valley
after a four year absence. Have included a couple of pictures. (titled:
Rigging, Coastline, Elevator Trng, Incoming and Makua AASLT).
In Feb 02, the Wardogs fired the Salute
for the 25th Infantry Division Transformation Ceremony (also known as
beret day, when we switched from BDU caps to black berets). The ceremony
took place on Wheeler Army Airfield. Great photos from this event!
In June 02, our FDC won the Division
Artillery Best by Test FDC. The section recieved the award during a
Division Artillery Organizational Day. Members of the section include 2LT
Russell Lemler, SSG Travis Baker, SSG Terrell McGhee, SGT Bronze Johnson,
SPC John Reese, PFC Hamzat Saba.
Rene- I have a many more photos from
other events to send, but will stop with this for now. I may have sent
too many attachments with this reply, so if you get this please respond.
Thanks,
CPT Jon Sowards
Commander, A/3-7 FA
Wardogs!
