Helen Villa

Helen Villa was born in Attleboro, a small town south of Boston, Massachusetts.  She received her BA from Massachusetts College of Art in Boston before moving to sunny California to attend graduate school at California College of Arts & Crafts (CCAC) in Berkley.  It was there that she met her husband, the legendary Sacramento State art professor and muralist, Esteban Villa.  Helen continues to paint with acrylics, documenting her family members on large canvases.  She is a member of the Co-Madres Artistas (CMA) which was formed in 1992. CMA is comprised of six Chicana artists plus a facilitator. Into the 21st Century, CMA continue their artistic and community activities both collectively and individually.  For more information on the Co-Madres Artistas, go to Comadresartistas.com
